Mississippi Churning

February 5, 2008

“I was trying to shed a little light on the number one problem in Mississippi.”

Thus spake Mississippi State Rep. John Read (R) of the Bill he has introduced that would make it illegal for restaurants in Mississippi to serve obese people.

First, I find it highly unlikely that obesity is actually The Number One Problem in Mississippi. Second, I find it highly unlikely that obesity is actually The Number One Problem in Mississippi. And, lastly, I seriously doubt that Mr. Read will be Rep. Read after the next election. But, hey, stranger things have happened.

Thompson officially out of race

January 22, 2008

Fred Thompson has officially dropped out of the race for the presidency. I hate to see him go but, as I said earlier, he didn’t seem to be all that into the whole thing to begin with.

Unfortunately, we aren’t left with any real clear-cut choices, IMHO.

Thompson, out?

January 22, 2008

Mary Katherine Ham over at Townhall seems to think (probably correctly) that Fred Thompson will be dropping out of the Republican Presidential race in short order.

I like Fred and had high hopes for him when he first entered the race. However, his seeming lack of enthusiasm for the grind of campaigning made me wonder if he had the stamina to run the country. And now we’ll probably never know.
